Tech Shows

A Tech Show is a national touring Broadway production that comes to Utica prior to opening anywhere, using our theatre to rehearse and fully build the show’s sets. During this period, the cast, crew, and creative team spend days or even weeks in the theatre fine-tuning every detail — lighting, sound, set transitions, costumes, and timing — before the production officially launches its tour.

But the impact goes far beyond the stage.

With dozens of cast and crew living and working in Utica during this time, these productions actively invest in our community — filling hotel rooms, dining in local restaurants, shopping locally, renting vehicles, and hiring local union labor to help bring the show to life.

A Tech Show isn’t just preparation for Broadway — it’s a direct economic boost to Utica, keeping dollars circulating through our local businesses and workforce.
