Students on Broadway is committed to making live theater accessible to all students, regardless of their background or financial situation. By offering discounted tickets to Broadway Utica productions, we provide youth with transformative experiences that build cultural awareness, self-confidence, and a sense of belonging—while celebrating the diverse and powerful stories that theater has to offer. An example of the type of group that takes advantage of the Students on Broadway is the Young Scholars Program through Utica University. “To say that we enjoyed ourselves at Kinky Boots would be an understatement! The show was fantastic, the seats we were assigned were fabulous, and my students‘ reactions were beyond enthusiastic. At intermission they passionately discussed who their favorite characters were, and which actors were the strongest. It made me proud to hear them using the language of theater in their insightful observations. After the show, one student polled the others about favorite songs, least favorite songs, favorite actors, etc. It was a special night and I am so grateful that Broadway Utica’s Students on Broadway program exists and afforded us such a wonderful experience.
