I am a subscriber and want to change my seats, can I? Where do I park on show night? There are so many questions! Ever wonder what to wear or what is the theatre etiquette?
It is important to know all the information when planning and preparing for a night out with the Broadway Theatre League of Utica and the beautiful Stanley Theatre.
It is also our goal to maintain a resource based on new data and community developments that could affect the patrons of Broadway Utica.

An Officer and A Gentleman kicks off the 2021 Broadway Utica Season!
Broadway Theatre League of Utica is proud and excited to announce its 2021 subscription season.
The upcoming season has something for theatergoers in every age group, including several family-friendly titles. The season begins with two Tech Shows including– AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN and HAIRSPRAY. A Tech Show marks the first time all cast and crew, in addition to costume, lighting and sound departments, etc. with a Broadway touring production are together in one place. This requires all members of the show to be in Utica and our surrounding areas for several weeks, creating a significant economic boost for local businesses. All of Broadway Theatre League of Utica performances are held at the iconic Stanley Theatre.
The complete 2021 season line-up includes:
An Officer and A Gentleman, January 2, 2021. A sweeping romance that lifts you up where you belong! Based on the Oscar-winning film starring Richard Gere, is a breathtaking production that celebrates triumph over adversity and includes one of the most iconic and romantic endings ever portrayed on screen. Two performances will take place on this day with a matinee and evening performance.
Hairspray, February 5-6, 2021. You Can’t Stop the Beat! HAIRSPRAY, Broadway’s Tony Award-winning musical comedy phenomenon that inspired the blockbuster film and live television event, is back on tour! We are excited to welcome Hairspray back again to Utica.
South Pacific, April 13-14, 2021. Love transcends the harsh realities of war and prejudice in this sweeping Pulitzer Prize-winning tale centered around two unlikely love affairs. Set on a tropical island during World War II, this timeless Rodgers & Hammerstein classic features some of the most beautiful music ever composed woven into an inspiring story cherished the world over.
Anastasia, May 4-5, 2021. Inspired by the beloved films, the romantic and adventure-filled new musical ANASTASIA is on a journey to Utica at last! From the Tony Award®-winning creators of the Broadway classic Ragtime, this dazzling show transports us from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s.
Summer, June 2-3, 2021. The Donna Summer Musical! She was a girl from Boston with a voice from heaven, who shot through the stars from gospel choir to dance floor diva. But what the world didn’t know was how Donna Summer risked it all to break through barriers, becoming the icon of an era and the inspiration for every music diva who followed.
Current Subscribers can expect their renewal via mail by the second week of June. Electronic invoices and information will be sent in the coming days. Madagascar, March 30, 2021. Matinee and evening performance. Join Alex, Marty, Melman, and Gloria as they bound out of the zoo and onto the stage in this live musical spectacular. This smash-hit musical features all your favorite crack-a-lackin’ friends as they escape from their home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey to the madcap world of King Julien’s Madagascar.
Jersey Boys, April 21, 2021. Back by popular demand. The story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. They were just four guys from Jersey until they sang their very first note. They had a sound nobody had ever heard… and the radio just couldn’t get enough of. But while their harmonies were perfect on stage, off stage it was a very different story — a story that has made them an international sensation all over again.
Waitress, June 9-10, 2021. Meet Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker who dreams of a way out of her small town and rocky marriage. Pouring her heart into her pies, she crafts desserts that mirror her topsy-turvy life such as “The Key (Lime) to Happiness Pie” and “Betrayed By My Eggs Pie.” When a baking contest in a nearby county — and a satisfying encounter with someone new — show Jenna a chance at a fresh start, she must find the courage to seize it. Change is on the menu, as long as Jenna can write her own perfectly personal recipe for happiness. (Re-scheduled from the 2019-20 season, tickets will be honored.)

Broadway Utica 2021 Season Coming Soon!
Broadway Utica is proud to announce that they will be kicking off their season in January 2021. The curtain will rise again and is worth the wait. It is extremely important to Broadway Utica to provide the most safest and entertaining environment. We owe it to our patrons, our staff, and of course the entertainers themselves. We are working closing with production managers, tours, and technical directors to coordinate all moving parts.
“Our patrons’ safety is and always will be our number one priority. If that means starting our season later and taking proper safety measures, then that is what Broadway Utica will do. Ideally, we start our season in the fall because that is our tradition, and this year it was not an option. We are all looking forward to the day when we are all together again enjoying one of a kind performances!”, says Danielle Padula, Executive Director at Broadway Utica.
Meanwhile, Broadway Utica is working on renewals for subscribers for the 2021 season, accepting seat change requests, and ironing out details for upcoming shows. New this year, we are making it easier than ever to renew your subscription with 4 easy payments, making it possible for everyone to keep the love of the arts as part of their lifestyle. Broadway Theatre League of Utica is proud to announce its newest venture, “BACKSTAGE” podcast which will be aired on the Disruption Network. Listen to the live podcast on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 12 noon, starting May 14, 2020. Podcasts can be viewed on Twitch, YouTube Live, Twitter, Periscope, and Facebook Live.

Covid-19 and Broadway Utica
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, Broadway Utica has suspended normal operations until further notice. Broadway Utica is considered a non-essential business and the staff is not reporting to the office or box office. Keeping our subscribers and followers up to date and informed is our main priority as well as safety. We have been working with show producers, their agencies and community partners to ensure Broadway Utica is taking all the appropriate steps to bring Broadway back to you.
What does this mean:

- All calls and emails are being monitored and addressed.
- Staff is planning the 2020-21 season and will be releasing that info soon.
- The Color Purple credits were applied to your Broadway Utica account for a future purchase, Waitress will be rescheduled, and all tickets will be honored for the new date.
- Processing refunds are on hold until Broadway Utica is back in the office.

Broadway Utica is proud to announce that the Bernadette Eichler Youth Ambassador Program is entering into its 9th year in the 2020-2021 season. This one of a kind program is sponsored in part by Bank of Utica. Our program represents over forty schools in central New York. Broadway Utica’s goal is to invest in young people and to inspire them to thrive in the world of theatre, the arts, the community, and in life. Students accepted into this program will be given a season subscription to Broadway Utica, attend pre-talks prior to all the performances, develop relationships with others, and be more prepared to act as contributing citizens. In exchange, the student is required to complete a pre-show synopsis and a post-show review for each performance, community service, and making the commitment to be an active participant in this program.
Eligibility Requirements
- Applicants must be enrolled in a local high school and entering their freshman, sophomore, junior or senior year in 2020-2021.
- Student must be available to attend each opening show night.
- Student must commit to being an active participant in the program.
- Student is required to perform 10 hours of community service throughout the season at a Broadway Utica sponsored, supported and/or recommended event.
