Carolee Carmello is a three-time Tony Award nominee and has appeared in 16 Broadway musicals, including Mamma Mia!, Kiss Me, Kate, The Addams Family, for which she received a Drama Desk nomination and Outer Critics Circle nomination, Parade, for which she received a Tony nomination and Drama Desk Award, Lestat, for which she received a Tony nomination and Drama Desk nomination), Tuck Everlasting, Finding Neverland, City of Angels, Falsettos, Scandalous, for which she received a Tony nomination and Drama Desk nomination, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Urinetown, Sister Act, two revivals of 1776, and most recently Bad Cinderella. Off-Broadway, Carolee has starred in John & Jen, Das Barbecü, I Can Get It For You Wholesale, Hello Again, for which she received an Obie Award, A Class Act, The Vagina Monologues, Elegies and the critically-acclaimed, immersive Sweeney Todd. Her screen credits include “Dopesick,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Madam Secretary,” “Blue Bloods,” “Evil,” “The Good Fight,” “The Deuce,” “Smash,” “Law & Order: SVU,” “Remember W.E.N.N.” and “Frasier.” Ms. Carmello has toured with Les Misérables, Big River, Falsettos and Hello, Dolly! and her concert appearances have taken her across America and Europe, including engagements at Lincoln Center, Town Hall and Carnegie Hall.BEST MUSICAL will run technical rehearsals and have its first public performances here at The Stanley Theatre in Utica, followed by its official tour premiere at the Buell Theatre in Denver.

As the show prepares to move into the theatre and build from the ground up, audiences will have the unique opportunity to see it all come together. Kimberly Akimbo is a heartwarming and bittersweet musical comedy that tells the story of Kimberly Levaco, a teenager with a rare genetic condition that causes her to age rapidly, making her appear much older than her actual age of 16. Despite her unusual circumstances, Kimberly remains an optimistic and witty young girl who dreams of a normal life.

The story is set in a suburban New Jersey town, where Kimberly navigates the complexities of adolescence while dealing with her dysfunctional family and her own unique challenges. Her father is an alcoholic, her mother is a hypochondriac, and her aunt is a charming con artist who leads Kimberly into a scheme that could potentially change their lives. Throughout the musical, Kimberly forms unexpected friendships and faces questions about love, mortality, and the fleeting nature of time.

The plot revolves around Kimberly's desire to experience life fully, despite knowing she might not have as much time as others.
